On December 20, 2019, Domino® and Notes® were finally released in their long-awaited version 11. Following the acquisition of several former IBM products by the Indian IT services company HCL Technologies, these products were able to be further developed. One of these products, the HCL Domino Administrator, will be presented here. The product portfolio includes even more HCL software, which is available to users as part of the HCL COLLABORATION SOLUTIONS suite.
HCL Domino Administrator version 11, also known as the Notes Administrator, has been significantly improved in terms of data volume, scope, structure, and performance. The database size has been increased from 64 to 256 gigabytes, and consequently, the number of possible folders has also increased fiftyfold. Similarly, the field names and summary data have more than doubled in size. Ten times the number of ID tables completes the purely mathematical improvements.
The entire database structure has been streamlined and modernized. For improved clarity and more intelligent storage management, emails are now better sorted and automatically processed in cases of spam and dead mail. The Domino Administrator now performs regular index updates and automatic corrections to text management. Attachments are indexed, and the overall interface is more user-friendly.
Views, even complex ones, are more dynamically added to and processed in registers. Cluster expansions and more frequent updates improve performance. An automatic repair engine scans databases and identifies gaps, which are then closed and fixed. If a fix is not possible, replicas are pulled from the cluster partner. Faulty databases are then removed, resulting in a clean and complete view.
Furthermore, the system administrator can manually initiate repairs via console commands and monitor the system. All deletion processes are recorded in a text document and can be traced. Manual searching and quick retrieval of this data are always very easy.
When changes are implemented, data – such as user data from older IDs – must be transferred and synchronized with the new system. ID Vault automates this process. The administrator also enables the use of Docker for Linux systems and provides versatile tools for client configuration analysis, including the Marvel Client Essential Integration, which can also be updated.

Improved functionality and security are also achieved when using Verse and iNotes® by removing negative content from HTML messages. The new Notes® Auto-Update replaces its predecessor, IBM Notes® Smart-Upgrade.
