New features in version 12.0.2
Redesign and modernize
Domino Restyle – Modernize the user interface of your existing apps. Apply predefined themes or update colors – in a single Domino application or in multiple applications simultaneously.
Within minutes, they can completely redesign the look of an existing application. Transform an existing application and give it a modern, user-friendly interface. Without changing the underlying code or functionality.
Changes with Domino Restyle are risk-free and quick to implement. Domino Designer is not required. Implementation can also be done with Nomad Web. The new HCL Software Design Guide offers additional professional support in the areas of color, typography, icons, and more.

Reduce email threats
Domino 12.0.2 offers new and enhanced features for email security.
ICAP support
enabled server-based virus protectionThe Internet Content Adaptation Protocol (ICAP) allows CPU-intensive processes to be routed to specialized servers. It is used particularly for implementing virus scans. Most antivirus products are also available as ICAP servers.

How does Domino use ICAP? Domino uses ICAP to send email messages to antivirus servers for scanning. The ICAP server receives the attachment to be scanned via a stream. After the scan, the ICAP server responds with a completion code indicating whether the payload was infected. The headers contain additional information about the type of virus, timestamps, and more.
In addition to logging, the new ICAP function also allows the cleaning/release or quarantine of the examined attachment.

DKIM Inbound
DKIM Inbound Ensures that emails are not altered during transmission between the sending and receiving servers. DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail) is an email authentication method designed to make it more difficult to forge the sender of an email. DKIM adds a signature to the email header that is uniquely associated with the sender's domain. The receiving server queries the public key via a TXT resource record in the DNS zone of the sender's domain and verifies the DKIM signature.
Domino version 12.0.2 enables DKIM signature verification for incoming SMTP messages. The Domino router configuration allows messages to be moved to the recipient's junk folder if DKIM signature verification fails.
Sender Policy Framework (SPF)
Coupled with DMARC, it offers SPF Enhanced protection against email spoofing, which is used in phishing and spam. Sender Policy Framework (SPF) is a standardized protocol designed to prevent email spoofing. It allows a receiving SMTP server to authenticate the sender as an authorized sender via their IP address.
SPF validation is intended for use on Domino servers that receive emails from external internet servers. A Domino SMTP server with SPF validation enabled uses DNS to check the SPF policy for the sender's domain of an incoming message. If a policy is found, Domino verifies that the connecting host is authorized to send emails.
Domino 12.0.2 offers the following SPF configuration options: rejecting messages that fail SPF validation, delivering them to the recipient's junk folder, and bypassing SPF checks for trusted servers.
DKIM and SPF are the basis for Domain-Based Message Authentication, Reporting and Conformance (DMARC), which will be available for Domino at a later date.
Simplify meeting planning
In practice, mergers and acquisitions often lead to coexistence scenarios of different email and calendar systems in corporate IT. Version 12 introduced Domino Online Meeting Integration for the first time (domain) presented. DOMI offers support for integrated online meetings with Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Webex and GoToMeeting, enabling seamless collaboration across system boundaries.
Further improvements to calendar integration are now available. HCL Notes 12.0.2 offers enhanced DOMI calendar functionality with a Preview appointment availability with Microsoft 365Save time and find out when colleagues have free appointments on Domino or Microsoft 365.
The new appointment availability preview is available in HCL Notes and HCL Verse (desktop version). Integration requires an active Microsoft 365 account.

Domino Backup using VSS
Starting with HCL Domino 12.0.2, Domino uses a native Windows Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) writers for snapshot backups. VSS writers are designed for application-specific VSS snapshots. You can use any backup application that supports VSS functionality to create a Domino-compatible snapshot. When a backup application requests a snapshot with the auto-recovery option enabled, Domino writes backup delta information directly into the snapshot to bring all databases into a consistent state.
